Dempsy Indoor Practice Facility
Owner: University of Washington
Location: Seattle, Washington
| Greenbusch provided the mechanical, audio/video and acoustical
design services for the new indoor practice facility at the University of Washington. The
facility is used for football, softball and other sports training, as well as for meetings
and pep assemblies before and after Husky football games. An audio/video system was needed
to provide reinforcement during these diverse activities. During sports training, the
sound system can be used simply as a paging/evacuation system, or can be fed with
"crowd noises" to train players to mentally "block-out" any possible
game distractions. After the "turf" is covered and concessions/catering is
set-up, the A/V system is used to feed audio and video to video monitors as well as to
distribute the pre/post-game radio feeds to the patrons.
In addition to audiovisual design, Greenbusch provided the acoustical and mechanical systems designs for the Indoor Practice Facility. The mechanical design for the heating, ventilation and plumbing systems include digital controls and gas fired heating and ventilation. All three departments worked in concert to balance the needs and challenges of all three disciplines into one, multi-purpose space with great success. The facility has been called one of the finest of its type. Acoustician: Julie Wiebusch Mechanical Engineer: John Greenlaw Audio/Video Design: Cameron Nicol |
